IPE Beam

IPE stands for I-section with Parallel Flanges – European standard. It’s a type of structural steel beam with an “I-shaped” cross section and parallel flanges that give it excellent strength and stiffness for carrying loads in construction and structural frameworks. These beams are widely used for building frames, columns, bridges, platforms, and other load-bearing steel structures because of their high strength-to-weight ratio and good load distribution properties.

📊 Common IPE Sizes (European Standard) Used in Kenya

While exact stock lists vary by supplier, these are widely recognized IPE section designations often available or imported into Kenya (dimensions refer to nominal depth across the web in millimeters):

DesignationApprox. Depth (mm)Typical Use
IPE 80~80Light structural frames
IPE 100~100Small beams/roof support
IPE 120~120Medium lightweight beams
IPE 140~140Medium spans
IPE 160~160General building beams
IPE 180~180Larger spans/industrial
IPE 200~200Heavy structural loads
IPE 220+>200Larger heavy structures

👉 Many suppliers will stock IPE100 through IPE200 as common standard sizes; larger and lighter variants (e.g., IPEAA/IPEA series) may also be available depending on stock and import patterns.

Note: Kenyan suppliers often list IPE beams alongside other beam types like H-beams, universal beams, and channels — you can check with local steel stockists for exact inventory sizes and pricing
